You can build a very strong 429 for less than $5,000. It's kinda hard to find 429 parts nowadays, especially blocks. The early 429 block had a lower deck height, which means higher compression, so they are rather valuable. The 4 bolt blocks are very scarce as well. It's better to look for a 460, as you can chop about $1k off the price and gain some cubes in the process. In reality, it's hard to beat Ford's price on their 514 CID 460 stroker....$7995 for 600 hp and aluminum heads! If decide that you just gotta have a 429, start looking in the junkyards for old TBirds and Lincolns, and find a 71 or earlier block. If it's original, it will probably have the early 429 heads as well, which have screw in studs and are easily machined to use the large 429SCJ valves. Makes a REALLY good street/strip head! Good luck!

Cool I paid $7200 for my 514, delivered

Call around for the best price! Sounds like 800 Samoleans ($) are at stake!!
