Default New Super Cobra Jet Heads

Has anyone seen the article in Mustangs/Fast Fords, this month, on the new Ford SVO "Super Cobra Jet" Aluminum heads?

Great story on taking the SVO 514, which is 610 HP and 598 ft lbs of tork and first they changed the solid roller cam to a Comp Cam with a bit bigger lift and it jumped the HP to over 665 HP.

Then they installed these new Super Cobra Jet Heads, from Ford. (had to fly cut the pistons) and the Dyno went to over 700 HP.

Sounds like a pretty neat setup............

Talking So.......

Are you going to do this with your engine? Inquiring minds want to know. I can only imagine what it is like driving a Cobra with over 700HP!

The intake ports are so massive on the regular cobra jet 460 heads, I've always worried about a lack of velocity on the intake side. The numbers you threw out were only a 35 hp increase, a little bowl work on the regular cobra jet heads and you'll have that beat. Individual runner F.I. on a 520 with ported cobra jet heads and you should be over 700 hp.

I just thought it was interesting that bolting on these new heads gave it another 40 plus HP. I would only use these if I was doing a new motor. Now changing the cam, as they did in the prior to adding the new heads, took it up from 600 to 660.

AER Manf builds these SVO motors and these 514 Dyno at 605 to 615 and the power that my car has now I'm not sure it would even be worth changing the cam as getting 600 HP to the ground is difficult!

Smile SCJ Heads on my 514

Kieth Craft Racing is going to put these on my 514 if they can get a set. I will be using the Blue Thunder intake and the same cam profile as the 535hp 460. We will see what she produces in about 4-5 weeks.
