Question Siamese block

Anybody here running the Ford racing block with the siamese bores ? If so is there any kind of cooling problems while street driving ?

Unhappy

I'm going to take the lack of response as a resounding no.

That's o.k. no big whoop.

Fordracer:

Go to the 385 forum and search that site. There are definitely guys using the SVO racing block there.

Cool

FR,
Not that this is really relevant to your question, but rather just FYI. I do prototype engine development here with Honda, and we've been using siamesed cylinders for years now, in mass production applications such as the current V6 Accord, and many other V6's. I believe it was originally developed as motorcycle technology, and eventually worked it's way into automotive applications. You might find some technical data and research materials on the SAI bookstore website, if you are interested in learning more about this design.

The SBC 400 has problems with steam pockets being created under the deck due to a lack of foresight in designing the cooling system passages. This problem can be alleviated by recognizing it and drilling holes to allow the steam to escape/not-form.

From what I've heard (no actual experience), the Ford siamese blocks do not have the type of pocketed areas that the SBC does, so it isn't an issue.

Thumbs up

Thanks a lot guys. I had no idea Honda used siamese blocks. Good to know.
