Default help with fuel injected 460

I am having trouble finding any fuel injection kits(or any part of the kit) for that matter for the 460 engine, everythings for carbs. Because of this i basiclly need help finding everything from intake on up. im keeping it as a streetcar so i cant use(nor afford) high performance racing systems but i was wondering if anyone knows where i can look for the parts i need.

thanks

Hello,
I am running a Holley 4DI (aftermarket carb to FI conv.) kit. It is now called the commander 950 system. It is a throttle body and bolts to intake manifold like carb. I am running on a 542 inch motor and must tell you they at tech. service were worthless in terms of helping with fuel map for the engine size. I have made all my own maps and will email to anyone who needs them. It is a great stand alone system and the difference from carb to injection was unreal. I also bought software to allow real time observation and tunning that I feel was the key to sanity.

Default Fuel injected 460.

I have built an awesome stroked 460, fuel-injected using TWM ... www.twminduction.com

They make an unbelievable set-up for the 460....also...Wayne Pressley at www.verycoolparts.com has a set up for the 460...

I am using the Electromotive Tec3 controller.... It is a crank trigger system with direct coil fire units...NO Distributor........Runs like a bat outta hell!!!..

Wayne also sells the Tec3 system...he is very knowledgeable about it.....

It is a great system...Highly Recommended!!!

Holley has a VERY new universal kit that has everything you will need to adapt to a port fuel injection setup minus the intake manifold if you want to go that way.
Another option is to call www.force-efi.com for a quote. They have a "shorty" throttle body that is so important for hood clearance on Cobra's AND the the super large injectors needed for blown applications. too. When using a victor jr. maifold the shorty throttle body will give most cobras hood clerance.
Mohuska is right that you will most likely have to switch over to a crank trigger system, though Force Fuel tells me you can use a conventional ignition setup. That is a factor for me because I don't want to pitch my MSD stuff. I too plan on switching over soon. And with the cam gear wear problem discussed on these pages if I were starting fresh a crank trigger system would be a smart option I would think.

Default There is a setup now on ebay for a 460

Based on an Edelbrock Victor. You might have to convert it to a Torker II for clearance. Fuel rails should line up the same. Also, it does not appear to have a throttle body included. There are many that would work.

Default EFi for 460

I personnelly would be reluctant to go to force-efi...I tried for 3 months to get them to discuss options with me....They flaked out constantly...I got fed up!!

Kinsler fuel injection is another way to go....they make great EFI systems and offer several types of controllers including FAST and ACCEL.....They are easier to program than the Electromotive but I think the Electromotive is much more accurate and versatile....

Just my 02.

Mohuska- I haven't ordered from Force yet but you are right that you have to get by their Chevy bias. I have seen two of their setups though, and one was a 406FE Cobra and both systems worked well. So far they have talked to me, and have gave me good feedback. In my case though, port injection is my only option and Force is the only cats that I've found that have the shorty 2000cfm throttle body.

I am currently installing an EFI system from Force-EFI. Rob has been extreemly helpful every time I have called, and I call often, just talked to him an hour ago which would be 6:30 pm his time and he still picked up the to help me out. He upgraded my injector size and fuel pump free of charge. I did manage to find the actual manufacturer of the shorty throttle body, the same one Force has. They are Accufab Inc. in California, their phone number is (909) 930-1751. Cost form them was $520.00. They can also help you with annodizing other parts to match your throttle body.
Rob at Force helped me design my system. I am using the ACCEL/DFI system on a Victor Jr and I still have room to fit a Nitrous plate under the Throttle Body. I am doing the work on the manifold on my own because I already had it lying around, but Probe industries make a Port EFI manifold for the 460. Retail price when I talked to them about two months ago was $650.00, they say jobber cost was around $450.00 if I new someone who could get it from them that way.
One note on the Throttle Body. The linkage arm sticks up high above the top of the TB. I am converting my linkage from pull to push so that I can attach the rod to the bottom of the arm and cut off the top so that I can fit a very low profile air cleaner.
On the ACCEL/DFI that Force supplies comes with software and has the computer pre-programed for easy start up and it will wok with my MSD ignition.
The only problem I have had with Force-EFI was delivery time. I had to wait for ACCEL to supply the DFI and to have it programed. Took about 5 weeks from when I ordered it.
Sorry to ramble on for so long.

Ciao,
Shawn C.

Shawn- It sounds pretty much like I expected it to pan out. Thanks for the info. and esp. the linkage height piece. Good stuff.
Mohuska- Kinser is in my own back yard and boy have I had a hard time dealing with those guys. In any rate they are a bit too salty for my tastes. Good lead though! They are good.

But does Accufab sell complete systems for blower cars with 544's ? No that's all right, I'll pull a internet search for Accufab and maybe give them a call. Thanks for the heads up.

Try Wayne Presley at the site listed above. He sells a stack injection system that looks like you have a set of Webbers on her. Absolutely awesome and absolutely EXPENSIVE. But if you're going that far, what the heck, shoot the moon!

You will not be disappointed with Wayne, a real stand up guy!
