2X4 manifold for BB 460

Anybody know if there is a 2X4 manifold for a BB 460 that is similar to the 427 low or high riser ? All I can find are tunnel rams.

Does this help? It is a Blue Thunder. I did not build the engine so I dont know part #s. But if this is what you are looking for I can find out

2x4 460 manifold

Tom...the manifold your looking for is a made by Blue Thunder and is sold by several dealers.

The carb spacing duplicates the 427 manifold so all 427 carb linkage works correctly.

2-4V Intake

Tom,
The Blue Thunder 2-4V intake for the 460 is a great piece. It makes good all around power, and with proper carbs, can run extremely smoothly. The key is the correct carb set-up as dual four carbs are calibrated differently in the fuel and air bleeds-not just the jetting, and you must have the vacuume connection between carbs. All the 2-4V set ups we have sold on our engines use new Factory correct 2-4V Holley's, and they have worked great right out of the box-good fuel curves on the dyno, and good drivability.

The intake is cast with a narrowing at the port, so that it matches up to small port heads. But it can be ported to match the large CJ ports, or left and run as is. Linkage and fuel logs are very similar to the 427 stuff, but slightly different, so 460 specific parts are needed, at least for the linkage. The fuel log can be an "original" type, or any aftermarket creation.

Air cleaners are the same as the FE, either an Oval air cleaner -if it fits the car-, or a pair of Stellings.

If you have any other questions that I can help you out with, drop me a line.

2x4 intake

Rob
I recently bought the factory correct carbs with the vacuum connection and the 427 linkage from Carls and the linkage fits fine. The linkage from the fire wall to the carb will have to be adjusted a bit from the single carb configuration, as I have not installed my setup yet. Can you be more specific about what 460 pieces are different other then the fuel log ???

When I read that post, I was thinking they couldn't be too different. If the stock air filter fits, that would mean the carbs are the same distance apart so the linkage would seem the same.

2x4 intake

WDZ....I agree, if the spacing is the same what remains different. When Rob answers back I guess we'll find out.

Hmmmm...Blue Thunder says on their advertisement that the 2 -4 intake is a copy of the 427/428 intake, except for the last 1 or 2 inches of the outer port, AND uses the 'common FE linkage and air cleaner'. It sure sounds like it uses all the 427/428 stuff.

Linkage

Tony,
Your linkage will be fine as Carl also sells the correct linkage for the 460's. There actually is a very minor difference in the FE and 460 linkages, due to the carb base height differences between the FE intakes and the 460 2-4V intakes. The FE linkage would probably work, just not as well. Haven't actually tried it, always used the 460 specific linkage on the few we have done. We do far more FE 2-4V's than 460's (3 or 4 engine this year already), and it has been a while since I actually set up a 460 2-4V, so I don't remember the exact difference in the linkages.

Rob
I know when ordering the linkage from Carl's I was told that the 460 utilizes the 427 hi rise linkage and not the lo rise, maybe this is the difference in the linkages. I know there was no 460 specific pieces mentioned for my setup. Thanks for responding

I am building a clone 64 Ford T-Bolt with a 460. I am thinking of using the
Blue Thunder 2x4 intake. Other than the cool looks, does the dual quads
give you better performance than a single quad?

NOPE...... and I got a BT pair with a monster cam; but you're right; "they look cool". If I had to do it again and i wanted "pure" performance, i would run a single 1050cfm carb matched to the "right" ported manifold and right gears and then you get 0-100mph REALLY FAST. IMHO

Holman & Moody makes a 2x4 intake for the 460
