Where does the alternator go on a 460ci bug block?

Where is the correct placement for the alternator on a 460ci big block?

Did not take off the old one, so I have no reference to what holes it should line up with.........please help!

It goes on the passenger side. Either high or low mounting, depending on the brackets.

On the lower mount version, the brackets mount to a place on the water pump, and have a 3" long spacer to the block. Better check to see if the lower mount would work on your chassis.

Some of the companies specializing in 460 truck conversions sell aftermarket upper mount brackets for the 460.

Passenger Side. Long Bolt through bottom to block with about a 3-4" spacer. This spacer will be used to align your pulleys. The bolt also gives the alternator a point to pivot on to take slack out of the belt. Top bolt into block near the water pump to hold the adjusting bracket. Third bolt through bracket into alternator to tighten everything up. If I can be of more help, holler at me through email. Good Luck!
