Default Popping When Cold

Greetings;

I'm running a Performane Engineering built 514 with a Demon 850 racing carburator (no choke). When she's cold, I get some popping out of the right bank of cylinders from cold start to warmup. When the car has warmed up, it goes away completely.

I'm wondering if this is normal behavior, or if it's something to be concerned about.

Checked the header bolts? One could be a little loose allowing a leak when cold but as things heat up they tighten up.

May have to do with the fuel falling out of suspension as the charge hits the bottom of the manifold before there is ANY heat, whether there is a heat crossover or not.

Rick is right.....it's just because it's cold and it doesn't have a choke. When it's noticeably colder outside, it will do it.

Rick/Blykins;

This just became noticable when the ambient air temperature started going down.

The first thing I thought of was loose header bolts, but they're all tight. The bolts connecting the headers to the side pipes accepted a small amount of torque, but not enough to have allowed them to leak.

Thanks for your opinions.

Greetings;

I've noticed that if I warm the car at about 2000 rpm for a minute before leaving the driveway, the popping I had noticed previously was gone.

This must be a quirk associated with running a Demon 850 racing carb (no choke). When it's warm though, it's HOT!!
