you know........it really is an overdone issue! I am not an expert, but having had 2 Cobras with 351's ...the most recent is CHP motor......stroked to the all important...427...puts out 550 hp and 550 torq. Now, I have been around the big's and heard and taken off with them.......quite a few actually.....and no advantage either way....even the sound is similiar.....very similiar....but hey, you need to do the research and decide..
I do, and have, always found that those that HAVE are excited bout that and will brag it up, which is a good thing. BB boys like BB....and SB boyss like their SB's. Advanges of both....not so sure the BB's are all that much more powerful as some say....even the motor builders will tell you so. But, in the final analysis.....they all are fun. I will admit..though, when I see a hood open and a BB there....is pretty cool!! But, when I show mine.....haven't had ANYONE who is looking....go...oh, what a shame!.........with the slight exception of a BB guy!! (had to say it to you BB boys, sorry, just messin)
One last thing......Boyd....and trust me on this, and most will agree, regardless........when you have big hp and torq...and hit the go pedal....won't matter if you have a yugo motor......it blows your hat off, scares the shi$ out of you and others...and your girlfriend has just taken her.......last ride with you!!!!!!!!

Just have a look at this for example little Volkswagen vs. Suzuki GSXR 1000 on unprepared concrete runway

If you want it to look a bit original, put a FE into a 427 bodystyle kit and a small block in a 289. If you don't care about this, just choose whatever engine you like and build it to your requirements.

Not a bad idea, if a Roush is 14,800 how much is aluminium fe? Hopefully the chassis will arrive before next winter, at least I am starting to get sleep again LOL!!

If I had the option to go with a 427 BB or a 427 SB same hp...I still am going with the BB
just something to be said for the ole 427 S.O ...the way it was ment to be

A few months ago Keith Craft was offering 482 ci aluminum FEs for $16,500 (per a post on this site).

You might want to consider this option for $1,700 more over the Roush small block.

The main attraction Cobras have for us is the raw, unadulterated power of a monster motor in a small car. Our big block was built to have respectable HP and torque numbers without being out on the ragged mechanical edge. If those numbers can be reliably obtained in a lighter package, go for it if that's your vision of the "perfect" car.

Even with the horsepower and torque available to us, there are times I'd sure like to have more.

I was going to write a long dissertation praising big blocks while spewing distain for the impotency of the flaccid (thanks David!) small block. But I stopped myself.

I will just say:

Big blocks are better because they are, NENEER, NENEER, NENEER!!
