Default '69 429 Water Pump Blues

I've tried to read all threads on the differences between the '68/69 vs 1970 up water pump but can't find the answer I need. I have a '69 429 Thunderjet that I'm building for a new Cobra build. It looks like there are several High Flow (Al) water pumps for the '70 & up - not much for the '69. I stopped at a speed shop (Power by Ford - Orlando) and the gaskets seem to match up along with the height (length) of the pulley flange (~ 5 3/8"). The water inlet is pointed lower on the '70 - the '69 points to 3:00....shouldn't hurt.
Question - Can I use the '70 up High Flow (Al) for the '69? [example - Edelbrock 8866 - Edelbrock Victor Series Mechanical Water Pumps $165 @ Summit]
Also my engine has a single grove on the Harmonic pulley - I'll need to change this or it'll slip - right? Also, what will I need to do for the pulley ? Any suggestions ?
Thanks,
PJ

SPEEDWAY PJ, The 429/460 are the 385 series engines. If the inlet was angled differently on 69 vs 70 years it should not affect anything as far as pump operation, so my bet is yes you can use it. Perhaps they changed it for the better to get higher flow rates by angling down to say approx 4 o'clock ???? However, I would consult the folks at Stewart Components they are water pump gurus and may be able answer your questions. I have the Edelbrock AL pump that is sold by Ford Racing on the 460 crate engine and is advertised to have higher flow than OEM Ford pumps. Check my gallery I graphed out the performance of the Edelbrock pump with data provide to me from Edelbrock tech line. I used 2-sheave March pulleys but you can also use 460 truck pulleys from the 80's/90's that is Serpentine and better choice (cheaper, quieter, and better) than old school V belts. I went with March for the BLING effect. Make sure when you pick your pulleys that u are overdriving your water pump by at least 10%, 20%-25 is better for low speed cruising and cooling, measure your pulleys to be sure.

Thanks for the feed back, I'll contact Stewart's. You have certainly done a lot of work on you car - and that bleeder valve is a good idea.
Thanks,
PJ
