My Cobra's First Start-Up Video - 460 Ford Crate; Listen to that Sweet Sound
Well its been a long time coming but my engine fired on the first key turn. What a great feeling after all these years of solo sweat and toil. This is the 460 Ford Racing crate engine rated at 500hp from Ford. It has the SCJ Alum heads developed by Jon Kasse with a "mild" 234/244 duration hyd cam which appears to be an Edelbrock Preformer RPM cam. Sounds great at a 900 rpm idle !
Here is a video shot during the cam break-in running @ 2,500 rpm.

Thanks goes out to all here on CC who helped me make this go alot easier by sharing their experiences and knowledge. And to my son who figured out all the video production details.

Sounds great, and congratulations. When are you going to go kart it around the block?

Congratulations!
I had my first start recently and know the feeling. I was so worried about wiping my cam I couldn't sleep at night. What are the specs?

Thanks to all, I havent been able to wipe the smile off my face, my cheeks hurt!
The top questions I have been asked are:
1) What is that seat you're using and why isnt it upholstered
2) Did you go kart with it yet ? Not yet, still deciding on a seat and harness combo. If anyone can recommend a 19" wide high-back steel framed seat I am all ears.
3) Why aren't you jumping up and down like you just won on a game show, you look too calm ?
Because someone had to hold the gas pedal at 2500 rpm and watch the gauges
Ahh the fun, the noise, the best part was my clothes smelled like fresh cobra the rest of that day !!!!

Ahhhh, the smell of "fresh Cobra." Brings to mind, "I love the smell of napalm in the morning." ~Kilgore (Apocalypse Now)
