Post NE Cobra Enthusiasts - January

Hi Gang:

Well here we are in 2004.... it is snowing AGAIN here in southern New England this morning. I have not had the Cobra out since Christmas when the roads were dry and the temperatures were up in the low 50's. In fact is has been so darned cold that I have not started the engine up since then. You know the feeling.

I hope your New Year was Happy and all are well.

The Barrett-Jackson 2004 auto auction should prove interesting if you get Speed on your cable or dish TV. Next weekend is the main event.

You can check out the broadcast schedule at http://www.speedtv.com/schedule

But in General (ALL TIMES EST)

5PM to 6 Thursday Jan 22 Preview of Auction
9PM to 12 Thursday Jan 22 Live Auction
5PM to 11 Friday Jan 23 Live Auction
3PM to 9 Saturday Jan 24 Live Auction

I was out there last year in person and it is a great venue. Scottsdale is a wonderful place this time of year and the autos and tent villages of vendors is outstanding. Try to get there once. Nice golf out there too.

Also on Speed, the Victory By Design series is quite well done and there was a Cobra special on American Muscle Car that may repeat again. It was last shown on Saturday the 17th. Look for it.

Carroll Shelby and Ford unveiled the new Cobra concept car at the Detroit International Auto show. Auto Week awareded the V10 powered car "Best of Show". No details on if and when the car will be produced, however prices will probably be in the $80K+ range.

Also a new British magazine devoted to the Cobra is coming out called COBRAS. Looks good. Take a look on Club Cobra for the link to the thread discussing it....

New Cobra Magazine

The editor has sent me a copy of the cover and it looks fine. 200+ pages.

The New York Auto Show is coming up in a few months.. I will keep you posted.

We now have quite a few "members" ranging from Maine to Martha's Vinyard, to Westchester County in NY. A few of you have been contacting me via email, and I do appreciate your words and exchange. We need to get some gegraphically oriented regional events (north, south, east and west) scheduled for the upcoming 2004 year. Can a few of you take the lead on this please?

To do this the Maine, NH and VT guys need to get togeather. As do the Western MA and RI folks (including the Vinyard 8-) ). Likewise the Western MA guys and the Connecticut crew.

As mentioned in the last email just prior to Xmas, The big event for us as a combined event could and should be the Lyme Rock Rolex Antique Sports Car show and race which is always around the first weekend in September.

I have not used the Blind Carbon Copy on this email in hopes that you all will begin contacting the group. Just please... No SPAM.

Again Thanks and I will cross post this to CLUB COBRA.

Till Then.... pray for warm weather and dry roads.
