HEY, SCOTT - - - -

I HAVE AN AOD IN MY EXCALIBUR. I LOVE IT. DANA BRISCOE OF WOODBRIDGE, VA MODIFIED IT AND INSTALLED A CUSTOM SHIFT KIT. I HAVE GREAT CONTROL AND CAN MAUALLY SHIFT - UP OR DOWN - AT ANY SPEED. I'VE PROBABLY GOT JUST UNDER 300 HP BUT WITH GOOD "GEARING" MUCH CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED. (SO SAID THE MAN USING A WASHING MACHINE MOTOR TO PULL A FREIGHT TRAIN).

AT 70 MPH IN O.D. I'M CRUISING AT ABOUT 1950 RPM. THE BEST PART IS WHEN "HITTING THE TWISTIES" IN THE VIRGINIA MOUNTAINS I CAN LOCK OUT THE O.D. - DROP IT INTO SECOND AND RUN LIKE HELL BETWEEN 3000 AND 5800 RPM. I CAN PLAY IT LIKE AN ACORDIAN - RIGHT FOOT GAS - LEFT FOOT BREAK - MUCH EASIER TO CONTROL WEIGHT DIST CHANGES WHEN YOU ARE NOT CLUTCHING AND SHIFTING. VERY STABLE. SOMEWHAT UNCONVENTIONAL, I KNOW, BUT IT WORKS FOR ME.

TOP SPEED (THAT I HAVE SEEN "ON THE CLOCK") WAS 135 MPH. AND I STILL HAD SOME THROTTLE LEFT. ONLY PROBLEM IS WHEN I GET INTO THE ERA WITH 550 HP AND A TOP LOADER I HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE AGAIN.

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY
