race only
Hmmm...
Hydraulic throw out bearings are by nature "race only" parts. But then Cobra's are pretty much "race only" cars. I'm not trying to talk you out of using one, but the potential problems do outweigh the potential benefits for all but the most technophile among us.
The days of needing the clamping pressures hydraulic bearings were intended to solve are long gone except under the most brutal conditions. Better clutch diaphrams, more advanced materials insure most performance clutches, hayes, mc loud, centerforce, ram and even oem style replacement units far exceed the demands placed on them.
Case in point. My daily driver is a 5 year old Jeep XJ Cherokee. I lost my clutch at 180,000 miles. It just went. No notice. We got the tranny out and found the clutch to be at least 70% of new. The diaphram was the same. The flywheel looked like it had been machined. On the opposite side from the slave cylinder a $.035 clip which keeps the fork securely on the ball simply broke in two.
I'm guessing my stern task-master / soup-nazi step mother who never let me rest my foot on the clutch petal until it was time to shift is to blame, er, thank but I imagine it has something to do with the compounds and technology as well.
