ok, a litte geography lesson on the sing-song Nyea-nyea-nyea thing you hear from kids.
About five years ago, was with the army way up in the mountains of El Salvador, so far up a valley i wasn't sure where the next country started an mine ended. Even the HUMVEE had to stop and we had to walk the rest of the way up the vallety.
Really really big rattlesnakes up there, too, by the way. We killed one that was at least 9 feet long!!
Little near naked children came out of thatched smokey huts, mud and trees everywhere, all happy and excited to see something so unusual as us American soldiers.
Right away, the kids ran all around us, and started taunting each other little kid, with the exact same Nyea..... chant i used to hear when i was a kid. I couldn't believe it, no tv, no radios, no electricity, and yet the near universal childhood distain for other kids was the same as i have heard here in the US.
Maybe taught by the Conquistidors 400 years ago. Does the Nyea... thing mean something in archaic Spanish?
