Ducts are probably the easiest fix. As I understand it there are three main problems with Jag rear disks.
1 As above
2 Hot disks can damage diff seals by radiating heat and through conduction through the drive shafts
3 Leaking diff
oil gets onto the disks themselves which makes them useless.
Using ventilated disks at the rear will
1 circulate air to cool down the disks avoiding problems mentioned &
2 If the diff does leak, the
oil can travel through the inside of a vented disk and so not getting onto the working surfaces of the disk.
A problem with installing vented disks is clearance with the lower wishbone, although there is plenty of metal to machine off, and the use of a spacer in the caliper for the wider disk.
So, has anyone installed vented disks & if so, have you had any problems doing so?
