Actually, in NJ, in regards to the Ford lineup of cars, it was not until mid 1975 that the Fords sold here were equipped with catalytic converters. In 1974, Ford was still shipping the cars with only the recirculating "PVC" assisted emissions system in place...........

At least according to the AACA judging sheets for the 1974 T-Bird and Cougar.....
