If it smells rich it more than likely is. Check the plugs. Are they nice and clean or do they have black on them? If they are to hot they will have a shine to them meaning it is to lean.
If it is set to rich you are wasting fuel and washing out the rings in the engine.
Try a smaller jet size.
J.P. What I am saying is that the carb should be the correct size for the engine. I never said it was jetted for the engine. That falls under the heading of 'Tuneing".
