If you are simply "cruisin' " with your Cobra, an
oil cooler is NOT necessary, and in most cases it is "argued" that it can actually create substantial more wear and tear in your engine than without. I love the looks of them, and if racing, it is as necessary as a well burnished set of race pads.
Again as Petek touched on the equipment, there are ways to install, get the look, or even get the benifits. The best way to do this is to simply spend the extra bucks on a thermostat and the extra fittings. The thermostat will simply block the
oil from going through the cooler, allowing it to reach a safe and normal operating temperature that your motor requires, before sending it through the cooler. Or, you can install the cooler in the nose, run the lines from the cooler to behind the inner wheel tubs and simply not hook the lies to the engine.
