It's all a matter of your level of pain tolerance. You haven't met yours yet. If so, and you're happy with your lot, stay put, but stay put...quietly.
I would have long since turned out the lights on that tax level for a little sunshine. I own 640 acres with a home and 1/4 mile of shoreline on a Great Lake and my taxes total $2700/yr. For that level of painlessness I'll put up with 250" of snow a year and not b*tch.
Tis all about how high maintenance you are and how much you're willing to give away to get all that government largesse.
