Just warm up the engine first,then go sparingly with the water
and blow dry with reverse side of shop vac (has less air pessure than air hose and won't force water into places you don't want it)
I always cover carb with Saran wrap. My MSD box is under dash inside, so I don't know but, if in doubt Saran wrap it.
