Hello Mike,

After the above post from Sizzler I thought I'd better add a PS to my note above, and it is this: my setup uses the standard rotation water pump.

If you use the backward rotation pump, the back side of the belt needs to go against the water pump pulley which is flat-surfaced instead of the small grooves that the standard rotation pump (front side of the belt) uses.

Using a standard rotation pump requires a grooved water pump pulley. That's the one I got from a 460-equipped pickup F250/350. You may even be able to find the pulleys new if you get lucky and ask the right Ford parts counter person

Routing of the belt when using a reverse rotation pump is different from my setup too - it looks more like the standard 5.0 setup which does use a reverse rotation pump. This is probably only an advantage if you're planning on running A/C and mebbe a smog pump
