The DVSF IV raffle car.
That is the question. I knew long before I cancelled the Fling, that there was a very, very good chance that, in fact it may end up being cancelled. There fore I was really reluctant to contact any of our wonderful sponsors and ask them to donate a car, knowing that we may in fact have to return it.
Getting up to date--When the news broke that a warrant had been issued for our “shooter”, DV Jr. was on the phone before the end of the newscast wanting to know if he could now go forward. Of course I said yes which now brings us up to date.
Not only having to start out cold, making new reservations, from the hotels to the Police, to remaking and planning new events, all in less than 90 days.
Now, what to do about our traditional raffle? Every year people have asked and now almost, but not quite demanded a “Turnkey” car. The last few weeks around Fling Headquarters this has been the main topic. What, who and biggest problem was how!
Then it struck me! A perfect solution, or is it? I contacted Dave Smith, you know…Jenny’s dad. I talked to Alice at Cystic Fibrosis and received her blessing. I talked to Paula from “Finish-Line”; I even talked to MrMustang to obtain his thoughts.
Needless to say, without fail, no one could believe what I was trying to do. The word “nuts” seemed to come up in every conversation. Oh well, I’ve never heard that before.
We have “tentative” arrangements to put the raffle car in the “Hot Rod Power Tour”. It will be at the “Chrysler Classics” in Columbus, Oh. It very well could be shipped to Carlisle, Pa., Louisville, Ky., Atlanta, Ga. And dozens of ports yet to be named. If you have a large event that you think will be appropriate and that will sell raffle tickets please let me know! DV Jr. is packed with truck and trailer ready.
You know the car. It’s won almost every race it’s been entered into. It broke all records at the Run N Gun at its debut. It runs the ¼ in 11.01. It turns heads wherever it goes. Its won countless trophy’s, and best of show awards. Its been written up in multiple magazines, and I could go on and on.
I know this Cobra very intimately. You know it as the original “Double Venom” Cobra.
Details: I am not donating the car to CF, although I wish I could afford it. CF and I have come up with an agreeable sale. After this amount is reached, 100% will go to Jenny and CF. The car will be raffled regardless of the number of tickets sold.
Dave Smith has really sweetened the pot for the winner too! If anything should happen to the car within two years, he will provide free transportation for it, to and from our shop and your home for repairs.
I hope you guys are as excited about this old beat up car as I am. Heck it was time to build something different anyway!
