Uh...well...at least you were on four wheels...
That beats my half an hour or so of blinding rain on I-44 just east of St. Louis on my way back from New Mexico last tornado season. Silly me: I planned a Rt.66 trip via Cobra for early May. Right up to the last minute, I kept vacillating: "Take the truck? Take the car? Take the truck? Take the car?" I took the car. Every time I stopped, people would ask me whether I had been caught in the storm last night or tell me about the storms last night just ahead but each time, by dumb luck, I had managed to be in the right place at the right time, until the next to last day. I thought I had the car pretty well waterproofed. Hah! The rain came in all over and the car would slide this way and that way every time I hit a puddle and I was going as slow as I dared. It sucks at the time, but it does make good story material when you're chatting with the guys who only take their cars out on sunny days. Although, if I had my druthers, it would never rain on my car!
Yours would have been a good story even with the top up!
BTW... why DIDN'T you have your top?
