WILF, J WHEATON,

WHAT PART OF "I AIN'T EVEN GOIN' TO DISCUSS" ESCAPES YOU??? HEH, HEH, HEH.

THERE WERE "PASSENGERS" IN THE CAR. LET'S SAY TWO MATCHED PAIRS. WE WERE IN TOWN (DRINKING THE UNDRINKABLE) WHEN THE "ALERT" CALL CAME. I DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA HOW FAST WE WERE GOING - - IT WAS AS FAST AS A LINCOLN 4 DOOR HAD EVER GONE BEFORE.

OUR PROBLEM WAS "WHAT TO DO" WITH THE TWO YOUNGER PASSENGERS AND THE "BORROWED" LINCOLN (WE WERE GOING TO RETURN IT LATER - HONEST) AFTER WE GOT BACK TO THE BASE.

THE YOUNG LADIES WERE THERE BECAUSE MY WING - YEAH, I'M PRETTY SURE IT WAS HIM - HAD PROMISED, EARLIER, THAT WE WOULD TAKE THEM FOR A RIDE IN AN F-102. THIS WOULD POSE AN INTERESTING CHALLENGE BECAUSE WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY TF-102'S (TWO SEATERS). THE CONCERN HERE WAS THAT IF THEY WANTED TO FLY - WHILE SITTING ON OUR LAPS - WHICH "STICK" WOULD THEY "STEER" WITH.

FORTUNATELY (??) WE WERE SAVED FROM OURSELVES BY A CONTNGENT OF BRIT SECURITY FOLKS. (PROBABLY SOME OF WILF'S RELATIVES) WHO RAN US DOWN AND CORNERED US BETWEEN THE BOQ AND THE HANGAR ROW. THEY RELIEVED US OF ANY FURTHER NEED FOR CONCERN ABOUT THE YOUNG LADIES OR THE CONSULATE'S LINCOLN LIMO.

THEY DID, HOWEVER, FORWARD A SCATHING INDICTMENT - INCREDIBLY EMBELISHED - (GAWD - THOSE BRITS CAN WRITE CREATIVELY - I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HALF OF THOSE WORDS MEANT) TO OUR SQUADRON COMMANDER.

THE ONLY THING THAT REALLY SAVED OUR A$$ES WAS THAT, UNBEKNOWNCED TO THEM - AT THE TIME - I WAS THE SQUADRON COMMANDER. SETTING A PROPER EXAMPLE FOR ONES YOUNGER PILOTS IS AN ESSENTIAL ELEMENT OF LEADERSHIP.

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY.

BLACKJACK - 21 - OUT
