A little usless information about Terlingua...
I lived near there for a few years and it really is almost a ghost town until the Chili Cook off comes around each year. Then the entire Big Bend area is covered with almost 60,000 bikers and chili enthusiasts.
Next time you walk into a Chili's Restaurant, look at the posters on the walls. Many of them are older Terlingua Chili cookoff posters.
The area is now becoming known for a few things.. Hippie Communes, a place for eccentric artists and a pit stop for Mexican drug traffickers.
