USrowboy You are pushing down on the shifter to get it into reverse. Slap it down in neutral and pull back. I would also check the tunnel from under the car and make sure you have it centered. I have a 6spd nash and had ERA add a square out to the tunnel because the shifter sits 1" back in the car. You set the linkage up with the pin in it?? In the begining the shifter is very stiff but will loosen up after 100 shifts. The reverse works on a lock out so you can't go from 4th to reverse by accident. There is a special high temp grease for the shifter you should put on it every so often. Hope this helps Rick Lake call if I can help any more 732-254-3536
