I live in Lake Placid, about 13 miles south of Sebring.

As a Florida native, born in Hogtown (Gainesville) raised in WPB, I love central Florida. All the coastal snowbirds can make their cracks about nothin but cows and oranges in the middle of the state, but that's just the way we like it. Unfortunatley, this area is growing fast too and prices have doubled on lakefront lots in the past year. All the folks sick of the crowds on the coasts are buying vacation homes and retiring to this area.

If you're not going to spend alot of time at the beach, why put up with the crowds and high prices? Central Florida is just as warm as the coast and 100 miles from hurricane landfall. Sure it may be 3-4 degrees hotter in the middle of summer without the seabreeze, but you'll probably be in the AC anyway, just turn it up a notch.

A bonus of the Sebring area is that you are a two hour drive to anywhere (WPB, Fort Myers, Sarasota, Tampa, Orlando), close enough to visit and get the hell back to the country by nightfall.

I love central Florida, how do we allow admission to Cobra owners only?
