My Cobra is coming around the final bend and I just thought I would let you guys know what I'm doing to prevent theft. I have been working at a car stereo and alarm shop for a couple of years and I hope that I can sleep well when I get to a hotel room for the night. Anyways, Clifford makes a couple of alarms called the Clifford 7000, 8000, and 9000 which have been replaced by the 701, 801, and the 901 I believe. They have a proximity sensor which I plan to put under the carpet on the transsmission hump. It is pretty flat. You can adjust it so that if somebody is a little too close for comfort it will send out a warning chirp which you will be able to hear if you are parked close enough. And the second stage in which if somebody has come way too close to your cobra (not just to take a look) the alarm will sound which in turn is your cue to wake up go outside and open a can of wupass. Now these alarms are set up to also do starter and ignition kill. If the alarm goes off the only thing way to start the car is a secret code made by you, disarming the alarm with the clicker and using the key to start it or rewiring the entire starter and ignition circuit. Notice how they can't just stick a screwdriver in the ignition. Just a warning if you guys plan on taking some of this into consideration make sure that you go to a well recognized stereo shop and alarm shop. I have seen some of the work from good guys and circuit city and they just don't do it for me. Go through a higher end shop who is familiar with doing custom work. So to be honest even with the security system I will still cover it and pull the coil wire and use the battery disconect but I like the idea of a warning and maybe catching the guy and beating the ever living sh$% out of him.
