Here in Alaska just about everyone uses a command start to preheat their vehicles. The better ones offer a two way transmission. The key fob on the two way system (Compu-Star) has a picture of a car(that is animated) and an audible signal to let you know that your vehicle has started. A feature of this system is that it can be programmed to incorporate an alarm. It has a range of over a quarter of a mile. If anyone tampers with your vehicle it will signal you via the audible tone and visual animation in the key fob. You can be breathing down the neck of the culprit before he knows it. These systems are not cheap, you will pay over a thousand dollars with the command start and all the features.
