Just a minor point. The 289 Cobras DID come with "matching number" engine blocks. The engine block number was stamped on the AC identification tag along with the car serial number. I have access to several 289's with their original engines and matching numbers. The big block cars did not list an engine number.
I would like to think that an original Cobra with it's orginal 428 would be desirable (since I have one in the garage), but, I know that it is not as sought after as a true 427 car. Whether its more desireable than a 428 car that now has a 427 is in the eye of the beholder. I prefer the originality, but a real 427 under the hood would certainly add something to many folks, I think.
