You can call me biased but I like these motors.

Chev LS1 small block runs 6.125" rods from the factory yet the whole engine assembly is still more compact than the Ford. A fully dressed LS1 only weighs 400lbs.

The factory rods are good for 500+ HP. The factory crank is regularly pushed to 600+HP in blown aplications.

The deep skirted aluminium block and 6 bolt mains make for a very strong bottom end.

The LS1 is being regularly bored and stroked to 427 cubic inch using the factory block. 454 versions have been built using the stronger C5R block.

LS1 runs symetrical port heads.

Cam button? the factory roller cam don't need no stinkin cam button.
