Mike,

The 351 Cobra people refer to was not originally built with a 351. In the Shelby Cobra Gold Portfolio, 1962 - 1969 on pages 70 & 72 it has the story plus pictures.

The car belonged to Shelby himself and he took it to Mike McCluskey in Torrance, Calif, for the work. A 72 Boss 351 was installed along with a beefed up 67 Ford C-4 automatic transmission. There were some other modifications made to make the engine and headers fit. They even put a 351 emblem on the front fender where the engine or body emblem normally goes.

I think this car has been changed back to the original 289 setup but don't know for sure. Ron (CW) would be the one that could answer that for you.

Ron
