Thanks for the info. The 911 has a 3.0 engine recently dyno'd with 230 HP to the wheels. His car conforms to Porche club rules and he did take 2nd in class.
I have been a NASA member for 3 years and run in HPDE 4 in AZ. We are blessed because there is a lot of sunshine with extended opportunities for track time. There are two other clubs here, ProAutoSports (
www.proautosports.com) and Arizona Sports Racing Assoc. (
www.azsportsracing.org) that run similar events on the four local tracks in the Phoenix area. Within 300 miles, there are 4 more tracks; 2 in Las Vegas and 2 in NM.
I highly recommend learning to drive your car on the track. It is great fun and will teach you how to become a better driver. A couple of months ago, I set up a track day at Firebird Raceway for the Cobra Club. Many were first timers to the track, but everyone had a real blast! Mine is the red one.
