I purchased this car used from House of Cobras (HOC). HOC claims they knew the owner and had installed the engine for him. I had researched Cobras for over 8 months before my purchase due to strict CA regulations. I purchased this Cobra as it was titled as a 2001 Specially Constructed Vehicle in Nevada; so I knew no title company was used which could hamper CA registration issues.

After spending much time, effort, and research, I have now LEGALLY registered this car in CA. It is currently registered as a 2004 Specially Consturcted Vehicle which has to meet 1969 smog standards. The sticker in the engine compartment from the BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) states this fact.

I will be the first to admit this car is overpriced to sell in any other state. The reason for the mark-up is that it's CA LEGAL. If you've been reading this board, you should know about all the registration problems current Cobra owners are facing. This is why I think this car is worth a premium.

This is a very tame car. It can easily be driven on a daily basis. To the best of my knowledge, this is NOT a hot-rodded engine, it's your basic Ford 351W - not stroked or beefed-up. It's easy and cheap to maintain and very dependable. If you want a Cobra for only track purposes, this is NOT for you. This is perfect for the weekend crusier or as a daily driver. Due to the light weight of the Cobra, it's very fast with this basic engine. HOC had estimated 385 horsepower - however, I can't confirm as it has not gone on a dyno.

I will not accept any offers below $50K. I may be dreaming and it may not sell at that price, in which case I'll keep enjoying it myself.

I recently paid my mechanic over $700 to change all fluids, go through the entire car, including a compression test. Everything works EXCELLENT. Receipts available upon request.

Now that the hard work of modifying parts to make it smog legal is done, you can easily convert back and forth in about 1-2 hours. Please e-mail me if you have any questions:
