Can anyone help me get the proper fuel level reading on my fuel guage?

I have tried using the "Full" and "Empty" adjustment screws without any luck. My first time out, the fuel guage was adjusted to a "full" reading, but the car ran out of gas at the halfway point on the guage. The last attempt was done with the tank at the point of being empty with the appropriate "empty" reading on the guage. Upon filling the tank up at the gas station, the guage reading was about 1/8 below the half way point.

It seems that I am unable to utilize the whole fuel guage to get a proper reading.

Any recommended methods on adjusting the guage or similar problems experienced before I contact fuel safe?
