We have cars with and without front plates. Our everyday cars have them because we do not want to be stopped for a minor infraction. We have had two sportscars for twenty years without the front plates but never been stopped. Recently, the LAPD Chief, the guy with the "Bwosten" accent decided to lighten up on traffic tickets to concentrate more on terrorism and heavier crimes, so if you're in the LAPD jurisdiction, chances are that you won't be stopped. However less tickets mean less revenue for the City so who knows how long this will last. The CHP is another story. They are enforcing zero tolerance.
On your GT350 R front apron, you could always mount one to the side of the opening below the bumper (providing you have a front bumper). In any case, carry the unistalled plate in your car. Its better to have it than not.
"Umm, officer it just fell off and I was going to go home and put it back on,...,honest"
