Jason,

I may have a solution for you. The noise is possibly a couple of things.

1. Too tight, (gilmer drives dont need a lot of tension). If too to tight the belt may not be meshing correctly on the drive.
2. The main noise is from air being squeezed out of the toothed area. I have heard a solution to quieten these down is to drill holes in the milled (lower) section of each of the drive wheels. Check the internet hot rod chat sites or search "gilmer drives". (you will need to drill a couple of holes in each section check out more info from other sites)
3. If its new it may be the drive gears have some sharp edges catching on the belt. May need to smooth off rough edges.
