Brian, welcome to the club !!!!!!!!!!!! I'd guess that I've got about 2,000 miles of driving in the rain. I've been wet in nine states over a two year period. Don't worry about the carpet. The gas and brake and steering wheel are all that you need. I wasn't as careful sealing up my footboxes and have never had any water in them.. I'd suggest that you consider using the old time rear quarter panel water drains. Remember the ones that were in the bottom of the 1/4 panel in the trunk. There was a small drain hole in the bottom of the 1/4 panel and on the outside there was a small rubber piece that covered the hole from the front but allowed it to drain to the rear. I hope to see you in Laughlin. John
