Do as Chris suggested then put a small amount of Hi-Temp RTV sealant in this area, front an rear. Where the intake and head meet. I have had good luck with Felpro Rubber Gaskets. I personally dont like to screw with the cork if you have a solid lifter engine. The other brands of rubber gasket are too hard and don't seal good. I dont use anything more than a 1/4" drive to snug them down, going inside to outside , top, then bottom. Let them heat cycle twice and snug down each time. Works for me with Pentroof Steel Covers so the aluminum should be better.
