Gary, I have tubular up front and it seems to be okay.
My Aldans have 330 pound springs, but then I do not have a 427 up front.
They are set at 5/8" off the bottom thread and are on # 5 setting for ride.
If you have the frame setup, I would recommend the LoneStar tubular A arms. I am not sure on the ability to swap them out, but It wouldn't hurt to talk to them about it.
