As you mentioned-"Many of the builders will weld the bracket to the frame and then drill through the bracket and 3rd leg and bolt it to the bracket."

This is more what I'm thinking should be done, except I would like a MUCH heavier bracket.

Feedback please---Using 5/16" to 1/4" thick steel, weld a 4 sided box that would act as a base for the end of the 3rd leg.
The 3rd leg slides into the box.

Weld the box to the frame, and then-- drill through the box and the leg for a grade ( 8 ) bolt to tie the leg to the box?

Just want something a lot stronger than what was originally included on the car.

If anyone has pic's of their retro fit on this I would really appreciate seeing them.
