The stock Mustang II shocks won't work if you use the stock mount on the car. You need a shock that has a longer stroke. You can remove the small tower on the car and weld in a mount at chassis level to fix the problem and use a stock shock. We are doing this on our new frames. I never understood the extra 4" because it serves no purpose. I use the 375# springs with the small block engines and the 500# springs for the big blocks. You can order the proper shocks with the stem mount. I've always used Carrera but since they were bought out by QA1 I haven't been able to get them. I've been using Pro-Shocks with good luck. They are not adjustable though.
