Correct me if I am wrong (still learning).
I heard that the Turkey pan was only there to shield the carb and keep engine heat away from the carb so as to not "cook" gas in the carb and away from the engine.
It was not meant as a forced induction mechanism (although some of this was evident) It was meant as a practical application for a heat shield.
