Mine came with Gabriels also, I believe they have adjustable dampening. I saw some arrows and settings on the outer shock body when I was inspecting bolts in the rear wheel wells. I do not know what they are set at and how to set them, as I have not taken them off to try it. I am going to set my ride height this week and get F & R alignment.
I have not had any trouble with my shifter yet, I have only used 1st and 2nd gear and only used 3rd one time. I can't go thru all of them in the neighborhood. I installed my boot with the shifter in neutral, and made sure that the shifter was clear of the tunnel and edges.
