the email I got from an Edelbrock tech guy says that there is a difference between the two with the hub height being higher in one of the applications as opposed to the other.

your proposed solution would require me pulling a brand new, aftermarket alum radiator in order to get the radiator outlet on the same side as the water pump inlet. I think that the costs outweigh the benefits.
