You need apprpriate push rods for those shell lifters.If your block is a tall deck or anyother mod you may need rods a little longer or shorter to get the geometry correct.With shell lifters the pushrod end sits at bottom of lifter ,just a fraction away from the actual cam lobe.My machinst ordered replacement pushrods from an outfit in Origon.Mine were standard length. after my cam went flat, I ordered another set and replacements for my original set of lifters from Summit. The push rods are available from Summit also.
Shell lifters were the original solid lifters in the early FE (1958) 332 then 352. Before hydraulic lifters , solid lifters were standard equipment.
