jpea: I don't think I'M the one that needs to relax here. My comments were not directed solely at your post. Others made mention of bars / drinking and shopping. No doubt, PIB is a fun place to go if you like to shop for T-shirts and go bar hopping, but is it the thing to do for a Cobra gathering? We can't even take our cars there, and believe me, you don't want to leave your car in the parking lot on the mainland.
I simply put my .02 cents into the pot, that's all. You said it yourself - Jack asked for suggestions / comments on what we thought. I simply gave mine.
Yes, I've read all the post regarding this topic and have seen Turk's comments as well. He would be the first to tell you that I don't always agree with what he has to say, but (IMO) he's made some good points. Sure, he can be a real "Gashole" at times, but he's been around here for a long time and I've learned to respect his views. You on the other hand, haven't been here long enough for me to KNOW your views let alone respect them. Doesn't mean that won't come in time, and I hope you stick around here long after the 'Fling has come and gone to share your thoughts / experiences with Cobra's and all else............but, so far, you aren't making a very good impression by ripping into senior CC members with a grand total of 12 post to your name. If you really AREN'T a new member here (and just changed your name) then at least come clean and tell us who you are.
Don't get me wrong.........I'm by no means suggesting that you can't say whatever you want. That's not for me to say; that's up to the moderators. But if you cut the throats of people that make comments that you don't happen to agree with, then (as you've already found out) you have to expect to get cut yourself. That's just the way it is.
Going on Turk's comments, I think we are ALL concerned about the quality and friendliness of the event. And, I believe he was correct by pointing out that if you ask for suggestions, you may get more than you bargained for. You simply cannot please all of the people all of the time. Sure, you can take in some ideas from others, but this is usually what ends up happening when you do that. Just give people an outline / list of activities that are going to take place and allow folks to decide for themselves whether they want to attend or not. Some may choose to go to London, some to Cleveland, but as ugly as this is getting, a lot may choose to pass on BOTH......... and that's a shame.
In fact, I for one, am sorry to see that both these events are taking place on the same weekend. Every year, a number of people (due to schedule conflicts) cannot make it that weekend. Why not spread the wealth around a little and offer 2 great Cobra gatherings at different times? Heck, some folks may even be able to attend BOTH that way! TWO huge Cobra gatherings in one year..........What a summer THAT would be!
