Cats are an emmissions requirement. I don't know if you have emmissions tests where you are, but in Virginia they do in some places. A 1965 or 1966 title and registration will make your car exempt from emmissions (25 years old or more). A 2005 title needs to pass 2005 requirements. Collector car insurance is about half price for a 1965 title over a 2005 title on a Cobra replica. Collector insurance with declared value policies are the way to go. If you can even find an insurance company, i.e. Allstate, State Farm, etc. that will insure a Cobra, be careful of catastrophic loss limits, a 1965 roadster to them is worth about $900 for loss of vehicle. Ask some of your local Cobra owners for the pros and cons of your state's rules and insurance choices.
