Scott - With that little bitty motor you've got you will be just fine with a Torsen.
There is a difference though between the 8.8 and the 9 incher. The 9 incher runs a bit more bias than the 8.8 and also soaks up about 20 horsepower to drive it. It looks like the 8.8 version is the way to fly on a Cobra.
We never could tear up the 9 incher back when we were testing that unit. Even tried a few drag passes in a alcohol rail that had 1250's on. It's still in a Thunderbolt, though my buddy says it is single tracking now he thinks. He plans on putting in a spool soon, so I'll see what if anything happened to that unit. We had some real pros go well out of their way to destroy that thing though.
