Default break-in lube

I am going to gradually assemble my engine and am concerned about the cam lube, etc that I am using. It is a red lube that came with my Comp Cam.
The engine will probably sit for a couple months before being fired-up and already it seems that the cam lube is dripping off camshaft. I don't even have the crankshaft in yet.
Question: How long will the lube be effective ??? Will a film be enough ???
I'm not as concerned with my bearing lube and such. It seems like it will stay in place just fine.
I will be doing a pre-lube to pressure oil everything before fire up. And I do understand about the 20 minutes of 2000-2500 rpm to splash all that oil onto cam lobes.
Thanks
Dave
